Step by step

Set up Hermes in 2 minutes

  1. Open your Hermes config

    Open ~/.hermes/config.yaml in any editor.

  2. Add RobinReach under mcp_servers

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with the key from the Integrations page in RobinReach. If mcp_servers already exists, add robinreach next to the servers there.

    ~/.hermes/config.yaml
    mcp_servers:
      robinreach:
        url: "https://robinreach.com/mcp/v1/messages"
        headers:
          Authorization: "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
  3. Load it and check

Run /reload-mcp in Hermes or start a new session. Then run this to see what RobinReach answered.

    Terminal
    hermes mcp test robinreach
  4. Say hello

Ask Hermes to list your RobinReach brands.

Check it works. Ask Hermes: "List my RobinReach brands".
Prefer the key in the URL?

The Integrations page in RobinReach shows this shorter form, with your API key inside the URL. Both reach the same server; keep the file private.

~/.hermes/config.yaml
mcp_servers:
  robinreach:
    url: "https://robinreach.com/mcp/v1/messages?api_key=YOUR_API_KEY"
First things to try

Things to ask Hermes

Plain words work. Hermes picks the tools, checks each post against the network's rules and tells you what it did.

Tell me which posts did best last week and why.

Draft next week's posts from our content pillars and save them as drafts.

Troubleshooting

If something does not work

hermes mcp test shows an error

Check the key after Bearer is current. Creating a new key on the Integrations page replaces the old one.

Hermes does not use the new server

Run /reload-mcp or start a new session. A running gateway also picks up config changes within about a minute.

Too many tools for my model

Hermes can limit a server to the tools you pick. Keep posts, media and analytics, and add the rest when you need them.
