Connect Codex to RobinReach

To connect OpenAI Codex to RobinReach, make sure Node.js is installed and run codex mcp add robinreach -- npx -y mcp-remote followed by your RobinReach URL with your API key. Codex then has 77 RobinReach tools in every session: it can write, schedule and publish posts on 13 networks, read your analytics and answer comments. The Codex CLI, the IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share the same setup. It is included on the Bloom, Thrive and Scale plans.

  • 2 minutes to set up

Step by step

Set up Codex in 2 minutes

  1. Make sure Node.js is installed

Download it free from nodejs.org if node -v shows nothing in your terminal.

  2. Run this command in your terminal

Replace YOUR_API_KEY with the key from the Integrations page in RobinReach. Each brand has its own key; the account key reaches every brand.

    Terminal
    codex mcp add robinreach -- npx -y mcp-remote "https://robinreach.com/mcp/v1/messages?api_key=YOUR_API_KEY"
  3. Say hello

Run codex and ask it to list your RobinReach brands.

Check it works. Run codex and ask: "List my RobinReach brands".
Prefer editing the config file?

Add this block to ~/.codex/config.toml instead of running the command. The file holds your key, so keep it private.

~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.robinreach]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://robinreach.com/mcp/v1/messages?api_key=YOUR_API_KEY"]
First things to try

Things to ask Codex

Plain words work. Codex picks the tools, checks each post against the network's rules and tells you what it did.

Write a launch post for the feature in this pull request and schedule it on LinkedIn and X for Monday at 10.

List the posts scheduled for next week and flag any day with nothing planned.

Turn docs/release-notes.md into a short Threads post and a longer LinkedIn post, as drafts.

Troubleshooting

If something does not work

Codex says npx was not found

Install Node.js from nodejs.org, open a new terminal and run the command again.

The tools do not show up

Run codex mcp list to check robinreach is there, then start a new Codex session so it loads the server.

I pasted my key somewhere public

Create a new key on the Integrations page in RobinReach. The old one stops working at once; update the command or config with the new key.

Questions

Codex and RobinReach: questions people ask

Does Codex work with RobinReach in VS Code or the ChatGPT desktop app?

Yes. The Codex CLI, the IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app read the same config, so adding RobinReach once covers all three.

Why does Codex need Node.js?

The setup uses mcp-remote, a small open source bridge that runs with npx and carries Codex's requests to RobinReach over the web.

Can Codex sign in without an API key?

Codex can connect to HTTP servers and sign in with codex mcp login. The API key setup above is the one the RobinReach dashboard gives, and it works without a browser.

Can I connect just one brand?

Yes. Use that brand's key from its Integrations page. Codex then only reaches that brand.

Which plans include it?

On RobinReach, the Bloom, Thrive and Scale plans. On the OpenAI side, any plan that includes Codex.
