# Connect OpenAI Codex to RobinReach: MCP Setup in 2 Minutes

> To connect OpenAI Codex to RobinReach, make sure Node.js is installed and run codex mcp add robinreach -- npx -y mcp-remote followed by your RobinReach URL with your API key. Codex then has 77 RobinReach tools in every session: it can write, schedule and publish posts on 13 networks, read your analytics and answer comments. The Codex CLI, the IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share the same setup. It is included on the Bloom, Thrive and Scale plans.

## What you need

In Codex:
- Codex installed (CLI, IDE extension or the ChatGPT desktop app).
- Node.js, which runs the small mcp-remote bridge Codex uses to reach RobinReach.
- Your API key from the Integrations page in RobinReach.

In RobinReach:
- The Bloom, Thrive and Scale plan (Bloom, $24 a month).
- An API key from the Integrations page (the account key reaches every brand; a brand key reaches one).

## Setup

### 1. Make sure Node.js is installed

Download it free from nodejs.org if node -v shows nothing in your terminal.

### 2. Run this command in your terminal

Replace **YOUR_API_KEY** with the key from the Integrations page in RobinReach. Each brand has its own key; the account key reaches every brand.

### 3. Say hello

Run codex and ask it to list your RobinReach brands.

Check it works: Run codex and ask: "List my RobinReach brands".

### Prefer editing the config file?

Add this block to ~/.codex/config.toml instead of running the command. The file holds your key, so keep it private.

## Troubleshooting

**Codex says npx was not found.** Install Node.js from nodejs.org, open a new terminal and run the command again.

**The tools do not show up.** Run codex mcp list to check robinreach is there, then start a new Codex session so it loads the server.

**I pasted my key somewhere public.** Create a new key on the Integrations page in RobinReach. The old one stops working at once; update the command or config with the new key.
